Fayetteville country band Backroad Anthem will play a show in honor of their late bandmate next week.

The band on Wednesday announced plans to play a previously scheduled show on Saturday, Jan. 16 at George’s Majestic Lounge without their lead singer, Craig Strickland, who died while on a hunting trip in Oklahoma last week.

Friend and frequent collaborator Barrett Baber will take the lead vocals on some of Strickland’s songs, and other local musicians and friends are expected to make appearances on stage throughout the night as well.

Strickland, 29, and friend Chase Morland, 22, both died last week after their boat capsized during a duck hunting trip on Kaw Lake near Ponca City, Oklahoma.

Friends and fans of the band are raising money online for the Strickland family this week to help cover the cost of funeral expenses.

Tickets to the tribute show are $10, on sale now at George’s ticketing site.

Update: The Jan. 16 show sold out almost immediately, so the band added a second show on Jan. 17. That show is also sold out.
