Some of the state’s top high school basketball talent will be on display this week in front of a national television audience.

ESPNU is scheduled to air the Bentonville vs. El Dorado game as part of the GEICO ESPN High School Basketball Showcase at 4:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 22.

The two teams each feature their own highly recruited college basketball player – Bentonville’s Malik Monk and El Dorado’s Daniel Gafford.

Monk, 6-4, 180 is considered to be one of the most highly regarded prospects to ever come out of the state. Scout.com rates him a 5-star recruit and the No. 1 guard and No. 6 overall prospect in the nation for the 2016 class. Monk has signed a letter of intent to play at the University of Kentucky.

Gafford is rated a 4-star prospect by Scout.com and the No. 11 position and No. 38 overall prospect for the 2017 class. The 6-10, 220 center has verbally committed to the University of Arkansas.

Tipoff is at 4:30 p.m. inside Tiger Arena in Bentonville High School.
