Weekend Flyer: Kinky Boots, Ground Rules, Brian Pounds and Grace Pettis and more

  • By Dustin Bartholomew · Friday, Jan 22, 2016

Friday, Jan. 22

How about starting the weekend with an art show? The University of Arkansas’ sUgAR gallery will host an opening reception for a new show titled Ground Rules, curated by Corey Oberlander and Lindsey Stapleton of Providence, Rhode Island’s GRIN Gallery. The show will feature work by painter-cum-sculptor Matthew King, mixed media artist Heather Leigh McPherson, and painter Ross Normandin. The reception will take place from 6-8 p.m.

Want to see a musical? Broadway hit Kinky Boots is playing through the weekend at Walton Arts Center. Here’s what our reviewer Kevin Kinder had to say about the show.

Music-wise, there are several good shows in town Friday night. Locals Cosmic American, High Lonesome, and Witchsister are at Ryleigh’s.

If some reggae sounds like a good way to escape the winter blues, Rochelle Bradshaw & Hypnotion at Smoke & Barrel is probably the show for you.

There’s a big show at George’s as well, with The Keller Williams Kwahtro and Old Shoe. Tickets are $25 at George’s ticketing site.
