The folks behind the Fayetteville Roots Festival have been announcing artists for this year’s event on their Facebook page this week.

Organizers began spilling the beans about this year’s lineup on Monday with the news that Birds of Chicago will be back in 2016.

They’ve been releasing a few artist announcements each day since then, including Arkansas expat songwriter Hayes Carll, South Carolina duo Shovels & Rope, California band The Milk Carton Kids, and New York songwriter Amy Helm (daughter of rock legend and Arkansas native, Levon Helm).

We’re not sure how many more artists are headed this way, or where these names will rank on the final bill once it’s announced, but suffice to say that the 2016 event is off to a pretty great start.

This year’s Fayetteville Roots Festival is set for Aug. 25-28 at various locations around town.

Advance tickets to the event are now on sale at fayettevilleroots.com.
