Former UA student and pop star Ben Rector is back in town for a sold-out show at Fayetteville Town Center Friday night.

Also Friday night, former Pinback singer Rob Crow’s new band Gloomy Place will perform at George’s Majestic Lounge at a show organized by the folks behind the On the Map Music Festival. Locals Teenagers will open the show.

At the theatre, Rodgers + Hammerstein’s Cinderella is playing all weekend at Walton Arts Center. Here’s the schedule of performances.

Saturday, March 5

There’s a big old gumbo cooking competition on Saturday. The first ever Fayetteville Gumbo Cookoff is set for noon on Saturday, March 5 at Fayettechill’s Smokehouse location (1725 S Smokehouse Trail). Tickets are $25, and include all the gumbo you can eat from more than 20 teams. There will also be beer available from local breweries. Here’s more info. Proceeds from the event benefit the
