Registration open for Fayetteville’s first women-only duathlon

Registration is underway for Ladies DU Fayetteville, the city’s first women-only duathlon.

The inaugural event is scheduled for Sunday, May 22 at Lake Fayetteville, and is open to women of all ages.

The race follows a run-ride-run format and includes a two-mile run followed by an 11-mile bicycle ride and another two-mile run on the paved trails around and near the lake. Participants may compete individually or as a two-person relay team where one woman completes the running portions of the race and another woman completes the bicycling portion.

Post-race festivities include massage chairs, female fitness and retail vendors, raffle prize drawings, and healthy snacks.

The event is part of the Fayetteville Race Series, a lineup of several annual events that vary between running, cycling, and multisport activities.

Online registration is available at fayetteville.onlinesignup.org. Fees are $45 for individual entries and $75 for relay teams. The fee includes a supported course, race timing, downloadable event photos, and a custom cycling jersey (register by March 11 to guarantee desired jersey size).

Volunteer opportunities are available and can be viewed on the event’s GivePulse page. Volunteers will receive a Fayetteville Race Series t-shirt.
