Runners will gather next month for a 5k fun run and human tie die party when one of the most colorful tours in the world makes a stop in Fayetteville.

The Fayetteville Color Vibe 5k is set for 9 a.m. Saturday, May 7 at the Washington County Fairgrounds.

Throughout the course of the race, participants become moving canvases as they run, walk, or dance through color stations where they’re splashed with vibrantly colored powder. After the run, everyone is invited to stick around for giant dance party with a professional sound crew and DJ.

The events, which take place all across the country each year, help to raise money for local charities and non-profit organizations. A portion of the proceeds from the Fayetteville run will be donated to the Northwest Arkansas branch of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

Organizers said The Color Vibe events use a unique, cornstarch-based colored powder that is 100% non-toxic and biodegradable, and that washes out easily from skin, hair, and clothes.

Registration starts at $26.99 through April 20, but prices will increase after that. The fee includes entry into the event, a race bib, and color pack. Discounts are available for teams of four or more people. Children 12 and under can participate for free.
