Volunteers needed for West Fork Watershed cleanup on May 21

 

The Beaver Watershed Alliance is seeking volunteers for the 11th annual West Fork White River Cleanup, set for Saturday, May 21.

Volunteer check-in begins at 9 a.m. at three locations: Walker Park in Fayetteville; Riverside Park in West Fork; and Slicker Park in Winslow. Following check-in, volunteers will be assigned to stations with site leaders along the river to clean up selected areas. After the cleanup, volunteers will return to Riverside Park where lunch will be provided. Live bluegrass music is scheduled after the event, and volunteers will have the chance to win several door prizes.

Organizers are encouraging participation from families, church groups, scout groups, civic clubs, students, and individuals of all ages. All volunteers will be supplied with trash bags and gloves.

The cleanup will focus on areas of the river from Fayetteville to Winslow. Sites include Walker Park, Town Branch, Cato Springs Branch, Dead Horse Mountain Road, Ward’s Slough, Baptist Ford, Dye Creek Road, Arvest Bank in West Fork, Riverside Park, Trash Hole, Woolsey Bridge, Brentwood Mountain Road, and Slicker Park.
