On Friday afternoon, there’s a celebration of National Train Day planned at Bank of Fayetteville’s train branch. Local songwriter Willi Goehring will be performing train songs at the celebration, set for 11:30 a.m.

Walton Arts Center’s Artosphere festival continues on Friday night with a couple performances. At 7 p.m., Circa’s Carnival of the Animals will take the stage at Baum Walker Hall. After that, a part indie music concert/part performance poetry/part history lesson about bicycles called Spin will begin at 8 p.m. in the newly remodeled Starr Theatre.

Local company TheatreSquared will perform a brand new show this weekend. Murder for Two opened with a sold-out preview performance on Thursday night, and will officially debut on Friday at Nadine Baum Studios. Get tickets.

There’s plenty of music to check out as well. Locals Vintage Pistol are at Nomad’s, Mudhawk are at Smoke & Barrel, and there’s lots more below.

Square to Square ride

Staff photo

The Farmers’ Market is the place to be on Saturday mornings in Fayetteville. Everybody knows that.

Also on Saturday, the second annual Square to Square ride will take off from the Walton Arts Center in Fayetteville, and make its way toward Lawrence Plaza on the Bentonville Square. Finishers of the 32 mile ride will receive a t-shirt, pint glass, and commemorative medal. There will also be Artosphere Trail Mix concerts set up along the way.

University of Arkansas commencement is on Saturday on campus, and that means that all the restaurants in the downtown area are gonna be crazy busy.

There’s lots of good music in town as well. Excellent Joplin-based rock band Me Like Bees is back in town for a show at George’s with Randall Shreve and the Devilles and Surf De Soleil.

Also in rock, locals Ten High will headline a four-band bill at Backspace, and Fort Smith electronic outfit Fractal Sky will perform at Ryleigh’s.

Trail Mix Concert

One of the signature events of Walton Arts Center’s Artosphere Festival is happening Sunday. Their Trail Mix series of concerts along Fayetteville’s Frisco Trail begins at 3 p.m. Performers include Paula Fuga, The Barefoot Movement and others. It’s free to attend.

The Ben Miller Band is back in town with their new-ish lineup. The band recently added the members of Tyrannosaurus Chicken to create a supergroup of sorts, and they’ll be at George’s on Sunday night showing off their new skillz. Here’s ticket info.

Also Sunday night, The Artist’s Laboratory Theatre will be back at Maxine’s to perform their popular All You Need to Know variety show. The subject this month is bicycles. Also, there’s no cover.
