Styx coming to the AMP this fall

The Walmart AMP added a little classic rock flavor to the 2016 lineup this week.

Legendary rockers Styx will be at the venue for a show on Thursday, Sept. 1.

The band is probably best known for their hit songs Come Sail Away, Lady, Mr. Roboto, Babe, Renegade, and several others. During their heyday in the 70s/early 80s, Styx released five straight platinum albums in a row, including The Grand Illusion (1977), Pieces of Eight (1978), Cornerstone (1979), Paradise Theater (1981), and Kilroy was Here (1981). Pretty impressive, Styx.

It’s the 18th show announced so far in what looks to be a pretty massive season for the AMP. The lineup also includes classic rockers Journey, the Doobie Brothers, and Sammy Hagar, country stars Jason Aldean, Miranda Lambert and Kenny Chesney, pop artists Ellie Goulding and Megan Trainor, Weezer, Widespread Panic, and others. We can’t the AMP ever booking this many shows in a single season, and all indications are that there’s more to come.

Tickets to the Styx show range from $31-$55.50 (plus fees), and go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, May 20. To purchase, visit amptickets.com, or call the Walton Arts Center box office at 479-443-5600.
