A new grocery store is open in south Fayetteville.

Walmart Neighborhood Market opened its third location in Fayetteville on Wednesday at 660 W. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.

The 42,000-square-foot store includes a pharmacy, full service deli, an in-store bakery, and will carry baked goods from Rick’s Bakery. It will employ about 95 employees, officials said in a press release issued this week.

The store’s design was a point of contention in the early stages of development. The company’s rezoning request for the 5-acre property was denied by the Planning Commission, but an appeal to the City Council was successful after months of debate.

The new location will be open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
