Don’t forget to grab a blanket or some lawn chairs and head out to the park tonight.

The second in a series of free summer concerts is scheduled for Thursday, June 9 at the Gulley Park gazebo in east Fayetteville.

The featured band is Dana Louise & The Glorious Birds. The daughter of Trout Fishing in America’s Ezra Idlet, Dana, is a self-taught musician who learned to play guitar during an artist residency in the Azores Islands in 2011. She’s since released two full-length album and tours nationally. Dana will be joined at Gulley Park by her band the Glorious Birds which includes local banjo player Adams Collins, along with her father Ezra and Keith Grimwood of Trout Fishing in America.

Organized by the city’s Parks and Recreation department, the series includes a half dozen concerts, with a new band playing every other Thursday beginning at 7 p.m. The events are free and open to the public. Coolers are welcome for those who’d like to pack snacks or dinner, but food vendors are also usually set up around the park. For those unfamiliar, see the photo above for what to expect.
