Remember last summer when some folks set up a 1,000-foot-long slip-and-slide on Dickson Street?

Well, it’s happening again this summer, and the date is set for Sunday, Aug. 28.

This year, local organization Soldier On Service Dogs, the non-profit partner for last year’s slide, is cutting out the middle man and producing the event themselves with the help of local business partner Bart Vollmer.

In addition to the slide, the event is a mini-street festival with local vendors, and new this year, the folks behind Bikes, Blues & BBQ will host a live music stage and beer garden.

Angie Pratt, founder of Soldier On Service Dogs, said her organization can pull off the festival on their own.

“We figured out a lot of dos and don’ts after last year,” Pratt said. “This year, we are thrilled to be working with our own people right here in NWA and the experience they bring to the table has been tremendous for us.”

Ticket information for this year’s slide will be released at a later date. Update: They’re on sale now.

The organization is currently seeking vendors, volunteers and sponsors. Those interested in getting involved may call 479-521-9301.
