Walton Arts Center to hold children’s auditions for scene in The Nutcracker

The Walton Arts Center will soon hold local auditions for the children’s party scene in the upcoming production of Royal Winnipeg Ballet’s The Nutcracker.

Children who are chosen will perform on the Walton Arts Center stage accompanied by Canadian dancers during the production of Tchaikovsky’s classic Christmas ballet.

When: 1-6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 2
Where: Great Hall at Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, 600 Museum Way in Bentonville
Schedule: 1 p.m. – Registration of all students auditioning; 2:30 p.m. – Audition class for children 7 to 8 years old; 4 p.m. – Audition class for children 9 years and older

Auditions will take place from 1-6 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 2 in the Great Hall at Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art in Bentonville.

Girls and boys must be ages 7 to 15 years old and be between 3’8″ and 5’3″ in height. Children must be present when handing in audition registration forms to verify height requirement. A current photograph will be required to register for the audition.

Audition attire for girls is any solid color bodysuit, tights, ballet slippers, hair in a neat bun and no jewelry. Audition attire for boys is a white shirt or bodysuit, black shorts or tights, ballet slippers and neat hair.

Performances of “The Nutcracker” are scheduled Nov. 25-27 at the Walton Arts Center in Fayetteville. Tickets range from $20-$50 and can be purchased by calling 479-443-5600 or by visiting waltonartscenter.org.
