Halloween-themed art and music show set for Oct. 29, seeks submissions

The folks behind local DIY music venue Backspace and art gallery The Shed are teaming up for a Halloween-themed art and music show again this year.

The venues will host 2 Grotesque: Halloween Art + Music on Saturday, Oct. 29 at 541 W Meadow St. and 546 W. Center Unit E. in Fayetteville.

The event will include live music by May The Peace of the Sea Be With You (performing as Built to Spill), Witchsister, John Charles, RD Mauzy, and Priscilla Snow.

Organizers are currently accepting submissions in several mediums for the art show, including paintings, sculpture, photography, installations, and other work. Submissions of short written work are also being accepted to be included in a ‘zine that will be sold at the show.

To submit, email Donna Smith from The Shed at theshedfayetteville(at)gmail(dot)com and include: a .jpg image(s) of the work or works (up to 5 pieces per artist), title, date, medium, dimensions, a link to your website if you have one, along with a brief statement about your submission.

For written submissions, just attach the piece (2 pages max), and include a little about yourself/your work in the body of the email.

The deadline for submissions is on Friday, October 14th, and selected artists will be announced on Oct. 15-16.

The art show will take place at both venues from 7-9 p.m., with music set to begin at Backspace at 9 p.m.
