Fayetteville offers free mulch to residents while supplies last

Due to an excess supply of mulch, the city’s Solid Waste and Recycling Division is giving away mulch through October while supplies last.

Anyone may pick up the free mulch using a pickup truck bed, a trailer or any other container at the compost facility, 1708 S. Armstrong Ave., from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday.

The mulch, which is made from ground-up trees collected through the city’s yardwaste program and trees dropped off at the composting site, can be used for weed suppression, moisture retention, and other landscaping needs.
