Artist Leilani Law to exhibit new work Thursday

Local painter Leilani Law will debut a new show entitled From Now On: Recent Paintings by Leilani Law in Fayetteville this week.

The show will kick off with an opening reception at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 3 at Arsaga’s at the Depot.

Law will give an artist talk on the work that evening beginning at 7:30 p.m., and local musician Jori Costello will also perform during the event.

According to her artist’s statement, Law’s new paintings are allegorical investigations into “humanity and the role of the divine feminine with it.”

“The presence of figurative and symbolic subject matter possess a kind of magical realism, familiar yet mysterious,” Law said in the artist statement. “The compositions appear both intense and nurturing, intrinsic and emotional, engaging and self-possessed.”

The show and artist talk on Thursday are free to attend. Afterwards, the paintings will remain on display through the month of November.
