UPDATED: Fayetteville police seek suspect after fatal hit-and-run collision

UPDATE: Police said Rodriguez turned himself in at the Fayetteville Police Department at around 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 8, according to a news release. He was arrested for leaving the scene of a personal injury accident.

Fayetteville police are asking for the public’s help in locating a suspect after a fatal hit-and-run collision on North Crossover Road.

Police said a scooter ridden by Hailey King, 18, of Fayetteville and Osmin Gutierrez, 20, of Springdale, was travelling southbound on Crossover Road at around 8 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 6 near the intersection of Zion Road when a red Chevrolet Silverado pickup struck the scooter from behind and left the scene of the collision.

The driver of the truck parked the vehicle at local apartment complex, and fled the scene on foot, according to a police report.

King and Gutierrez were transported to a local hospital where King later died. Gutierrez sustained life threatening injuries.

Fayetteville police are actively searching for Sergio Rodriguez, 33, as person of interest in the case. Anyone with information about the whereabouts of Rodriguez, or has knowledge about the accident is urged to contact the Fayetteville Police Department at 479-587-3555.
