SoNA to kick off season with holiday shows Dec. 3-4

The holiday season is fast approaching, and with it comes plenty of opportunities to get out with the family and see a show.

Among them, the Symphony of Northwest Arkansas (SoNA) will launch its 2016-17 season next month with their annual Christmas performances Dec. 3-4 at Walton Arts Center.

The symphony will open the season on Dec. 3 when they perform their popular show, A Very SoNA Christmas. The show features a collection of holiday favorite songs performed by the orchestra and accompanied by the SoNA Singers, the Bentonville High School Chamber Choir, and the University of Arkansas Schola Cantorum. Two performances of A Very SoNA Christmas are planned this year, at 2 p.m. and at 7:30 p.m.

On Sunday, Dec. 4 at 2 p.m., they’ll perform their family-friendly show The Snowman: A Family Concert. The show features a screening of the award winning holiday film, The Snowman, and the orchestra performs alongside the film to provide a live-score experience.

The symphony will be lead once again this year by maestro Paul Haas.

“For many reasons this is my favorite concert of the year,” Haas said. “It’s become a popular Northwest Arkansas tradition, and I think the reason is that we bring together so many different parts of the community, celebrating this joyous season through music.”

Tickets to A Very SoNA Christmas range from $30-52, and tickets to The Snowman: A Family Concert are $8.

Both shows are now on sale at waltonartscenter.org, or by calling the box office at 479-443-5600.
