Basketball season will officially get underway today at Bud Walton Arena. The Arkansas women’s team takes on Sam Houston State Friday morning at 10:30 a.m., and the men take on Fort Wayne tonight at 7 p.m. Hoops!

Former solider, touring musician and local resident Baker McKinney will perform with his band, Gravedancer, at Artist Laboratory Theater Friday Night. The show is part of ALT’s Singled Out interview/performance series, and should be a good one. Here’s more info.

New downtown venue Stage 18 will host their first ever show on Friday night with Olympia, Washington band Lake and fellow K Records artist, Karl Blau. We published an interview with the band earlier this week.

George’s has several shows planned Friday night, including a happy hour show with Earl & Them, a Prince Tribute in the garden, and Little Rock rapper Big Piph in the lounge.

Smoke & Barrel has a big Friday night show as well. Texas songwriter Iam Moore will play the venue for the first time ever. Admission is $10 at the door.
