The University of Arkansas will close the student parking portion of Lot 44 at 7 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 19 to clear the way for the expansion of Razorback Stadium, the school announced today.

The parking lot is located at the north side of the stadium, and is reserved for university students, faculty and staff.

The closure will include about half of the parking lot and will affect 384 student parking spaces. The remainder of the lot will be re-designated for faculty and staff only.

School officials said approximately 835 newly surfaced parking spots were recently added along Razorback Road to help make up for the expected loss.

Students who parked in Lot 44 may now use Lots 74, 74A, 74B, 74C and 74D, on the west side of Razorback Road, west of the outdoor track. These lots are located near UA Transit bus stops.

Officials said Lots 74, 74A and 74B must be vacated for home men’s basketball games.

All vehicles left in the fenced-in south portion of Lot 44, and all student vehicles remaining in Lot 44 after 7 a.m. Monday, Nov. 21, will be cited and relocated at the owner’s expense.

The stadium expansion project is expected to be completed by August 2018.

During the work, a fence will be erected around the project site, and heavy construction equipment will be in the area. Drivers and pedestrians are asked to exercise caution in all construction zones.
