The Fayetteville Convention and Visitor’s Bureau has a new sports sales manager.

The bureau this week announced the hiring of John Lamparski to replace Collin Brunner, who left in July for a new job opportunity.

Lamparski comes to Fayetteville from the Bentonville CVB where he worked for eight years, most recently as manager of group tour sales, a department he created.

He is a founding member of the Arkansas Group Sales Team that promotes the state regionally and nationally. Lamparski previously worked in group sales at the Columbus Zoo in Powell, Ohio, and at the Jamestown Settlement Yorktown Victory Center in Williamsburg, Va.

“John is a great addition to our team because he knows all that Fayetteville offers, has broad experience in tourism and has a passion for promoting Arkansas,” said Molly Rawn, executive director of the Fayetteville Advertising and Promotion Commission. “He is intuitive and proactive as he seeks new opportunities for growth in the market and industry.”

Lamparski earned a bachelor’s degree in creative writing from Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, Fla., and certification as a travel industry specialist from Indiana University.

His community involvement includes work as a court-appointed special advocate for Arkansas CASA, a non-profit organization that makes recommendations in the best interest of abused and neglected children. He previously has been involved with numerous tourism-related organizations.
