Two free parking lots with 63 spaces opened last week at 207 E. Center St., on the east side of College Avenue behind the historic Washington County Courthouse.

Anyone who lives, works, or shops in downtown Fayetteville can now take advantage of some new free parking just east of the square.
The city last week opened two lots with 63 spaces at 207 E. Center St., on the east side of College Avenue behind the historic Washington County Courthouse. The lots offer free parking 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and are an estimated seven-minute walk from the downtown square.
The city recently entered into a $400-per-month lease agreement with the property owner, Pettus Family, LLC, and plans to make free parking available in the lots for at least the next two years.

Crosswalks with traffic signals across College Avenue are located at the intersections of Center Street and Spring Street. A new signalized crosswalk will soon be built at the intersection of Mountain Street, according to a news release.
In addition to the new free lots, other downtown parking options include on-street metered spots, several surface lots with metered parking, and two decks with paid parking. City officials recently created a map with estimated walk times and rate information for parking locations in the square area. Click here to view the city map.
