A new TheatreSquared show opens next week.

The troupe is set to perform playwright Lisa D’Amour’s Pulitzer Prize finalist and Obie Award-winning show Detroit beginning next week and running through Feb. 26.

The play is a dark comedy that T2 says “brilliantly captures our moment in history.”

From the synopsis:

Recently laid off, Ben starts an e-business from his suburban home while his wife, Mary, keeps up a punishing commute to work. But when mysterious new neighbors Sharon and Kenny arrive, they find themselves increasingly pulled towards their wild new friends—to incendiary effect. Fast-paced and dangerously funny, Detroit rips up the floorboards to reveal the racing heart under a crumbling suburban fantasy.

The show has drawn wide praise since it debuted at Steppenwolf Theatre Company in Chicago in 2010. The New York Times called it “a smart, tart critique of the country’s fraying social fabric — as rich and addictively satisfying as a five-layer dip,” and Time Out NY called it “hilarious… sly, timely and neatly surprising…very much an of-the-moment American play.”

Tickets to the show’s run are now on sale at theatre2.org, and prices range from $15-45, but you won’t need to worry about that if you’re the winner of the following giveaway. Good luck.

How to enter

Ben and Mary from the show Detroit meet some new friends that have an “incendiary” effect on their lives. Do you have any friends like that? That always seem to keep things, ahem, interesting? Leave a comment telling us about that friend, and you’re entered.
