City crews are set to begin construction of a new sidewalk on Salem Road this week.
According to a news release, the work is scheduled to begin on Tuesday, Jan. 31 and last about two weeks.
The project includes a 6-foot-wide sidewalk along the west side of Salem Road, stretching about 225 feet from the existing sidewalk to Clearwood Drive, along with new curb and storm drainage improvements.
The work is one of 11 new sidewalk projects approved for construction this year across town, including 310 feet of sidewalk on nearby Clearwood Drive and 735 feet on Mount Comfort Road from Hidden Creek Drive to the city limits.
Traffic will be restricted to one lane from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on weekdays. The street will be open to regular traffic at night and on weekends. Residents will be allowed access as needed.
