Marvin’s IGA to close south Fayetteville location

South Fayetteville shoppers will soon have one less place to do their grocery shopping.

According to signs posted at the Marvin’s IGA at 1620 S School Ave., the store owners are planning to close the location for good.

“We apologize to all our shoppers for the inconvenience of our decision to close our Marvin’s Southgate store,” the sign states.

The sign directs shoppers to the recently remodeled Marvin’s Savers Club store, located at 380 N. College Ave.

No reason for closing is included in the note, but the increase in competition provided by the recently opened Walmart Neighborhood Market may have contributed to the decision. The Walmart opened less than a year ago last spring.
