TJ’s Sandwich Shop / RazorHot Chicken

The folks behind TJ’s Sandwich Shop closed their Garland Avenue location back in January, and are planning to try a new concept in the space.

According to a sign posted on the door, a new restaurant called RazorHot Chicken will soon open in the building, located at 1218 N. Garland Ave. The new concept will also carry some of the same sandwiches that TJ’s served.

A Facebook post on the old TJ’s page indicates the owners plan to open RazorHot Chicken “in a month or so.”

Bolder Coffee

A new coffee shop is working to open two locations in Fayetteville.

Bolder Coffee will open at 1947 N. College Ave. in the building formerly home to an Arvest Bank, and at 1025 N. Garland Ave. in the building formerly home to UARK Federal Credit Union.

Company COO Amber Dietrich said she recently moved to Fayetteville from Dallas, and she and a local private investor are the duo behind Bolder Coffee. The company currently has five locations in the works, and plans to operate out of Northwest Arkansas.

Dietrich said if all goes well, the Garland Avenue location will open in May, and College Avenue location will be open sometime in late summer.

The Kraken Killer Seafood

Kraken Killer Seafood, the restaurant located at 402 W. Dickson Street, closed for good after about a year in business.

The restaurant specialized in crab legs, shrimp, po’ boy sandwiches, and fried seafood dishes.

Owner Cory Tran said he sold the rights to lease the space, and plans to invest the money in a new venture he’s working on.

Local businessman Dave Bass, who also owns Stir and Shotz on Dickson Street, has leased the space from owner Zac Wooden, and plans to open a new project. We’re told the new place will have a “western” theme.

Panera Bread

Bakery chain Panera Bread Company is set to open a new location in west Fayetteville.

Representatives for the restaurant have submitted plans for a 7,550-square-foot building at 1541 W. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., in the lot formerly home to Sud’s Car Wash.

It would be the second location for the chain in Fayetteville, which operates over 2,000 locations in the U.S. and Canada. The company’s other Fayetteville restaurant is located at 3638 N. Front Street.

Hoppin’ Johns Bar & Grill

A new place is coming to the building formerly home to Locals 479.

The restaurant, to be called Hoppin’ John’s Bar & Grill, will be owned by Michael C. Roach.

We don’t know much about this one yet, but we’ve noticed renovations are underway on the interior of the building.

BürgerHaüs

Hamburgers will soon return to 1139 N. Lindell Ave., the building formerly home to longtime burger joint, Mr. Burger.

Signs for a new restaurant called BürgerHaüs appeared on the building recently. According to the signage, the restaurant will focus on burgers (of course), cheese steaks, and french fries.

The restaurant is owned the folks who also owns Tangier’s Mediterranean Restaurant in Fayetteville, who say they’ve been working on a recipe for an authentic Philly cheese steak sandwich made with fresh steak for the menu.

If all goes well, they plan to open sometime this spring.

Fuzzy’s Taco Shop

A new taco shop is coming soon to the Uptown area in Fayetteville.

Fort Worth, Texas-based chain Fuzzy’s Taco Shop is planning a location at 32 W. Joyce Blvd., in the building formerly home to Buffalo Wild Wings.

The restaurant specializes in “Baja-style” tacos “laced with feta and Fuzzy’s sauce.”

The Fayetteville location will be the third Fuzzy’s restaurant in Arkansas. According to the company’s website, Fuzzy’s also operates locations in Rogers and Jacksonville.

Construction is underway, and if all goes well, Fuzzy’s is expected to open sometime this spring.

Jimmy’s Egg

There’s a new breakfast spot coming soon to north Fayetteville.

Signs for Oklahoma City-based restaurant chain Jimmy’s Egg appeared recently at 3931 N. Shiloh Dr., on the building formerly home to Kirkland’s in Nelson’s Crossing.

The restaurant serves breakfast and lunch, and most locations are open from 6 a.m. until 2 p.m. The menu includes egg dishes, omelettes, waffles, pancakes, and other standard breakfast fare along with burgers, sandwiches, and lunch entrees.

The chain, which made Restaurant Business Online’s list of the fastest growing small chains in the country for 2016, currently operates about 50 locations in Oklahoma, Missouri, and Kansas. The company recently announced plans to expand into Arkansas, New Mexico and Iowa.

If all goes well, the new place is expected to open on Monday, March 27.

Hurts Donut

Staff photo

Springfield, Missouri-based chain Hurts Donut is still planning to open in Fayetteville.

The shop, known for its oversized donuts with off-the-wall toppings, will be located at 1641 W. 15th St. in the University Village Centre across from Baum Stadium.

The company hasn’t announced an opening date, but their mobile donut truck has been spotted a few times in town this month, which makes us think it’ll open sooner than later.
