A portion of Gregg Avenue will close for about two weeks near Dickson Street while crews work to build a new sidewalk.

The project will require daily closures on Gregg between Dickson and Lafayette streets beginning Monday, March 20. Work is expected to begin each weekday morning at 7:30 a.m. and should be complete each afternoon at 3:30 p.m. The roadway will re-open at night and on weekends.

Once complete, the 265-foot stretch of road will include a new, five-foot-wide sidewalk along the east side of Gregg that will connect an existing sidewalk to a public parking lot on the northeast corner of Gregg and Lafayette.

From a news release:

Flaggers will be present during work hours, flagging traffic when needed, to allow construction vehicles to enter and exit the work area. Please use extreme caution when in the work area and watch for personnel and equipment.

For more information about the project, call the city’s Transportation Division office at 479-575-8228.
