Volunteers are needed for two trail building events scheduled this week in Fayetteville.

Ozark Off-Road Cyclists will host a volunteer work event from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 22 at Lake Fayetteville. Participants will help build a small section of trail to re-route the lake’s soft-surface path around the Botanical Garden of the Ozarks by way of a new boardwalk currently under construction on the south side of the lake.

Volunteers at the lake event should meet at the Lake Fayetteville trailhead parking lot located directly south of the Botanical Garden of the Ozarks on Crossover Road. The work area is just a short walk west from the parking area to the edge of the lake.

Tools will be provided, but participants are encouraged to bring sturdy shoes, gloves and water. Those who bring a mountain bike can enjoy a guided ride around the lake after the work event.

Another round of volunteers are needed to help clear trail corridor where a 19-acre mountain bike park is planned in midtown Fayetteville.

OORC will host its latest volunteer work event on Saturday, March 25 at Gregory Park, 69 E. Sycamore St. Participants can choose from two time slots to volunteer – from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. or from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

The work is part of a plan to transform the underutilized park into a mountain bike-focused area complete with a series of singletrack mountain biking trails, and a possible pump track and skills course.

Volunteers on Saturday should meet in the Sycamore Street parking lot behind McDonald’s.

Tools will be provided, but participants are encouraged to bring sturdy shoes, gloves and water.
