Crews are scheduled to begin the next phase of infrastructure improvements along College Avenue on Monday, April 3.

The project features a full redesign of the half-mile stretch of road between Maple and North streets, with new, 10-foot sidewalks, lighting and street trees. Officials this week said a pedestrian crossing near Rebecca Street and Trenton Boulevard was approved by the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department, and will be included as part of the work this year.

The new phase includes improvements along the west side of College. Work on the east side of the road was completed in January.

Construction will take place on weekdays from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will occur in segments beginning at North Street and will move south to Maple Street. The work will require some southbound lane closures during the day, according to a news release.

The project is scheduled to be completed in November.
