Weekend Flyer: The Jayhawks, Stoney LaRue, Razorback baseball, and more

Friday, April 7

Jeff Austin

There’s a huge baseball series in Fayetteville this weekend. The No. 15 ranked Hogs will take on the No. 13 Tigers in a three-game series Friday-Sunday at Baum Stadium. It’s gonna be beautiful out, too. Read our preview of the series here. GAWGS.

Music-wise, local rockers The Inner Party and Rocket Coma are at Stage 18, and there’s a rock show at Smoke & Barrel with Molasses Disaster and The Chads. George’s has a Waylon Jennings tribute for happy hour, and a performance by mandolin genius Jeff Austin later on in the evening.

It’s gonna be a beautiful Saturday for hanging at the Farmers’ Market on the square. Get up there.

Easter is just around the corner, and if you’re looking for an egg hunt for the kiddos, there’s a big one at Gulley Park on Saturday. It starts around noon, and there will be music by the kids from School of Rock. Here’s more info.

Music-wise, Stoney LaRue is at George’s, Galaxy Tour Guides are at Smoke & Barrel, and there’s a music/comedy show at Kingfish with Youth Pastor and Comedians NWA including performances by local jokesters Stef Bright, Forster McAlexander, Stephanie Grace Cross and Paul Naegle.

Comedians NWA also has a show at Nomad’s, featuring touring act Cliff Cash.

There’s more below. Click around down there for details.

The Jayhawks are touring again, and they’ll be in town for a show at George’s Sunday night. As Kevin Kinder pointed out in his feature on the band earlier this week, the New York Times once called them the best band you’ve never heard of. (You guys have heard of the Jayhawks, though, right?) Anyway, they released a new record last year, and they’ll be playing those tracks along with some classics (we hope) Sunday night. Tickets are $20 on George’s ticketing site.
