Architect Jonathan Marvel to speak at UA

Jonathan Marvel, founding principal at Marvel Architects and designer of the upcoming TheatreSquared building in downtown Fayetteville, will speak at 5 p.m. Monday, April 17 on the University of Arkansas campus.

The event will take place in the Ken and Linda Sue Shollmier Hall, Room 250 of Vol Walker Hall as part of the Fay Jones School of Architecture and Design lecture series.

Marvel’s lecture, “Getting to T2: process, plans and practice,” will offer insight to the approach used in designing the new $31.5 million facility set for construction at the southeast corner of West Avenue and Spring Street. Marvel will also will recount other projects that informed the T2 approach.

The new facility will include two performance stages, rehearsal areas, space for costume and prop construction, dressing rooms, a green room, and administrative offices. Plans also include public common areas with educational and gathering spaces for audience members, guest artists, or anyone who just wants to hang out and grab a coffee, a small plate of food, or a cocktail.

The public is invited to attend the event. Admission is free, with limited seating.
