SoNA to present Masterworks III Concert April 29

The symphony is back in town this weekend.

Symphony of Northwest Arkansas (SoNA) will continue their season with a performance of their spring show, Masterworks III: The Romantic Era at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 29 in Walton Arts Center’s Baum Walker Hall.

This weekend’s show will feature a performance of a new original work by distinguished international composter and highly-regarded guitarist David Leisner, followed by a guitar performance of Rodrigo’s Concierto de Aranjuez, and a symphonic perfomance of Schumann’s Symphony No. 1, Spring.

The symphony will once again perform under the baton of music director Paul Haas.

“Schumann’s beautiful masterpiece summons and celebrates this glorious season, featuring gorgeous orchestral writing and emotional sensitivity,” Haas said of the new show. “The Spring subtitle is especially meaningful since the composer was married in 1840, just one year before writing this piece.

Tickets range from $28-$50, and are available by calling Walton Arts Center’s box office at 479-443-5600, or by visiting waltonartscenter.org. Tickets for college students are also available for $10 each with a valid student ID.
