Have you seen TheatreSquared’s The Ding Dong yet? This is your last weekend to check it out at Nadine Baum Studios. It’s hilarious, according to our reviewer, Kevin Kinder.
There’s some good music in town this weekend as well. George’s has a big show with central Arkansas bands Opal Agafli & The Sweet Nothings, and Adam Faucett.
Also from central Arkansas, Little Rockers Swampbird will be at Backspace with locals May the Peace of the Sea Be With You.
At Smoke & Barrel, funk band/philanthropists Henna Roso will perform a show/food drive. The band also donates a portion of their cut of the door to local food banks as well.
In sports, the Razorbacks will host an NCAA regional at Baum Stadium this weekend. The Hogs take on Oral Robers at 7 p.m. on Friday night in first round action.

It’s a big day at the Fayetteville Public Library on Saturday. They’ll kick off their annual Summer Reading Program with a big shindig, featuring a construction zone with touchable machines, bounce houses, stilt walking, face painting, a photo booth, balloons, a food court, hair streaking, temporary tattoos, a LEGO building station, a Friends of the Library book sale and more. Here’s more info.
Music-wise, Smooth Hound Smith is in town for a show at the Chancellor Hotel with Dana Louise. The show was original scheduled to be an outdoor event on Mount Sequoyah, but was moved indoors due to the threat of rain.
Also Saturday night, SoNA will perform their annual Pops concert at Walton Arts Center. The show will feature music from classic and contemporary cartoons and comic book films and televisions shows. There’s also a surprise finale that TheatreSquared is involved in that sounds cool.
There will be no hateration or holleration allowed at the AMP on Saturday night. R&B star Mary J. Blige will be performing, and she’s not into any of that noise. Last we heard, there were still some tickets available to the show.
There’s a lot more below.
