Friday night is going to be a good one for music in Fayetteville. Tulsa-based Afro-beat-funk band Count Tutu is back in town, this time for a show at George’s Majestic Lounge. We’ve heard good things about their live show.

Down at Smoke & Barrel, band of all-stars The Flipoff Pirates will perform together again, and local musician Randall Shreve will play a solo set at Stage 18.

The Arkansas New Play Festival will kick off their 2017 event with a series of readings at Crystal Bridges this weekend, where they’ll debut some of the most promising new plays in the country. Here’s more information about the festival.

The Fayetteville Farmers’ Market is in full swing, and there’s a special event at this week’s market. Local chefs Heather Artripe of Ozark Natural Foods, and Anne Carroll of the Farmers’ Table Cafe will conduct some cooking demos this week, teaching attendees how to create recipes using fresh local ingredients from the market. The market opens at 7 a.m., and the cooking demos begin at 9 a.m.

A local Juneteenth celebration is planned on the University of Arkansas Campus this weekend. The event is from 3-7 p.m. on Saturday, June 17 at The Gardens on Campus, and will feature live music by R&B artist Sarah Nicole and jazz artist Michael Fields, along with a cookout, ice cream, games, inflatables, a run/jump/throw competition, football toss, basketball shootout, vendor faire, and other activities. Here’s more info.

How about an outdoor concert surround by some world-class artwork? Crystal Bridges’ Chihuly Saturday Nights Series is happening this weekend, with performances by Smokey & The Mirror and The Ozark Highballers. Music starts at 6:30 p.m., and you’ll be surrounded by work from the new Chihuly exhibit now showing at the museum.

Local comedy improv troupe Phunbags will be making people laugh at Stage 18, and there’s a food drive/hip hop show at Backspace featuring Thunderman, Nugstufr, Clams.wav, J Daimyo, Jonny Enigma, I Am, and Divine Lowlife.
