One of Stephen King’s favorite songwriters is coming to Fayetteville this summer.

Austin-based musician Slaid Cleaves, who is originally from King’s home state of Maine, is coming to Sunrise Stage for a show on Saturday, July 22.

Cleaves has racked up plenty of acclaim over his 25-year career. His 2013 album Still Fighting the War was named on of the year’s best albums by American Songwriter that year, and the New York Daily News called his music “A treasure hidden in plain sight.”

He’s also, apparently, well-loved by one of the best-selling fiction writers of all time. King showed up at one of Cleaves shows in 2004, bought several CDs, and offered to write the liner notes to one of his albums (which Cleaves later took him up on).

Cleaves released a new album titled Ghost on the Car Radio just last week, and has recorded over a dozen studio records over his long career.

Tickets to the show at Sunrise Stage are $30, and are on sale now at sunriseguitars.com.
