Fayetteville-based restaurant chain Slim Chickens continues to expand rapidly, and will soon open a restaurant at a prominent location in Springdale.

The company plans to open a restaurant in the Center Point Place Shopping Center at the northwest corner of Highway 412 and Interstate 49, at the site of the former Jose’s location.

The plan is to demolish the current building, and to build a roughly 2,800 square-foot building in its place.

It will be the first Springdale location for the chain, and the sixth in Northwest Arkansas for the restaurant.

CEO Tom Gordon said they’ve been targeting a location in Springdale for a while now, and the company feels like they found the perfect spot.

“Just from the feedback we’ve received on social media, Springdale has been the most requested area in NWA,” Gordon said. “We feel like with the Sam’s Club right there, the Children’s Hospital, the Naturals Baseball Stadium and continued development along 412, this is the perfect opportunity for us in the region.”

Slim Chickens opened its first restaurant on College Avenue in Fayetteville in 2003, and has grown to operate more than sixty locations in eleven states. Gordon said he is seeking a location in Bentonville, but a specific location has not been identified.

Demolition of the current building in Springdale will begin very soon, and if all goes well, the new restaurant will open sometime this winter.
