The Beaver Watershed Alliance and Pack Rat Outdoor Center will host a stewardship and cleanup float on Friday, Aug. 4 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Participants will float a scenic 5-mile, calm stretch of the White River below the dam near Eureka Springs.

Volunteers are needed to help pick up trash and will learn to practice “Leave No Trace” principles. All participants will be supplied with a kayak or canoe, paddles, life jackets, trash bags and gloves. A free lunch will be provided.

From a release:

The event is part of the Outdoor Watershed Education and Recreation program of BWA that is funded through a Patagonia grant that is designed to get youth, adults and families outside where they have an opportunity to learn more about their watershed and become an active steward of our natural resources.

There is no cost to reserve a kayak or canoe, but space is limited and reservations are required.

For more information or to reserve a kayak or canoe, call 479-750-8007.
