You know what’s awesome?

Biscuits. And bacon. And chicken fried steak, and fried green tomatoes, and pot roast, and pork chops, and cinnamon rolls, and pastries, and sausage and cheese, and cornbread. Oooh, and pie!

Do you know what all of these items have in common? You can find them at the new Southern Food Company, now open at 3575 W. Wedington Drive in Fayetteville.

The restaurant is a project by University of Arkansas graduates Todd and Marti Martin and family, locals who spent a few years away from Fayetteville but found a way to come back and fulfill a dream and open their own restaurant in their favorite city in the world.

Southern Food Company specializes in, you guessed it, delicious southern comfort food that your mom might have cooked for you when you were growing up.

They serve a mean breakfast daily, from quick and easy cinnamon rolls and pastries you can grab on the way to work, to hot and freshly prepared eggs and bacon, breakfast sandwiches, casseroles, and more. They’re also proud to offer locally roasted Onyx Coffee, with a full espresso bar for lattes, mochas, cappuccinos, Americanos, and more.

For lunch, they’ve got some great soups and salads, some creative daily specials, and a dozen varieties of cold and hot sandwiches, like “The Dirty Bird” made with fresh blackened chicken, or ‘The Lil’ Pig’ with a blackened pork chop, or their take on a classic BLT with a kickin’ cream sauce to spice things up.

They’re also quickly garnering a reputation for an incredible brunch on the weekends, with their signature Southern Food Co. eggs Benedict, pork huevos rancheros, and more.

In the evening, their chefs Arielle Greene and Lester Vague help keep things fresh with different specials every night, like fried chicken, chicken fried steak, pot roast, jambalaya, and more.

Speaking of fresh, everything at Southern Food Co. made when you order it. It takes a few more minutes this way, but the difference in quality is well worth the wait.

They’ve also got a great selection of Arkansas brews from Core, Ozark, and Lost 40, along with some great wines by the glass and cocktails.

We’re excited to be working with them as the newest sponsor of our site, and we hope you’ll help us welcome them to the Flyer family by stopping by for breakfast, brunch, lunch, or dinner soon.
