The distinguished lecture series at Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art kicks off this week with a talk and performance by jazz musician, Jason Moran.

Moran will give a talk featuring short jazz performances to punctuate his lecture at the museum at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 21.

His appearance at the museum coincides with the traveling exhibition by painter Stuart Davis entitled In Full Swing, on display now through January. Davis’ work was also heavily influenced by jazz.

Similarly, Moran’s musical work is often influenced by visual art, including 20th century painters such as Jean-Michel Basquiat, Egon Schiele, and Robert Rauschenberg.

Moran has also scored a ballet by choreographer Alonzo King, and ideo works by contemporary American artists such as Glenn Ligon and Kara Walker.

Admission to the lecture is $10 ($8 for Crystal Bridges members). For a bit more information, visit crystalbridges.org.
