Police release stats for 2017 Bikes, Blues & BBQ motorcycle rally

The 2017 Bikes, Blues & BBQ rally included more citations, but less arrests than last year, according to Fayetteville police.

This year’s event included a total of 38 rally-related citations, 15 arrests, 9 wrecks, and no stolen motorcycles during the four-day rally, compared to 3 citations, 26 arrests, 7 wrecks, and 1 stolen motorcycle in 2016.

Police said seven people were cited on Wednesday and Thursday with 31 more citations coming in the final two days of the annual motorcycle rally. A total of 13 motorcycle drivers were cited for engine revving inside the event area (only six drivers were cited in 2016).

Of those arrested, 10 people were from Northwest Arkansas and 5 were from outside the region or out of state.

There were no motorcycle wrecks that resulted in any life-threatening injuries inside the city limits, according to police reports.

Wednesday, Sept. 20 activity

Citations:

  • One local resident was cited for fleeing.
  • One local resident was cited for disobeying a railroad crossing signal.

Arrests:

  • Two local residents were arrested for public intoxication.

(There were no wrecks, and no motorcycles reported stolen on Wednesday.)


Thursday, Sept. 21 activity

Citations:

  • One local resident was cited for disobeying a stop sign.
  • One local resident was cited for disobeying a traffic signal.
  • One local resident was cited for reckless driving.
  • One local resident was cited for engine revving.
  • One non-local visitor was cited for engine revving.

Arrests:

  • Two local residents were arrested for public intoxication.

(There were no wrecks, and no motorcycles reported stolen on Thursday.)


Friday, Sept. 22 activity

Citations:

  • One local resident was cited for engine revving.
  • Two non-local visitors were cited for engine revving.
  • One non-local visitor was cited for reckless driving.

Arrests:

  • One local resident was arrested for public intoxication and possession of drug paraphernalia.
  • One local resident was arrested for shoplifting.
  • One local resident was arrested for public intoxication.

Wrecks:

  • A vehicle collided with a motorcycle at North Street and Leverett Avenue. No injuries were reported.
  • A vehicle collided with a motorcycle at College Avenue and Meadow Street. The motorcycle driver suffered minor injuries.
  • A vehicle collided with a motorcycle at College Avenue and Sycamore Street. The driver and passenger of the motorcycle suffered minor injuries.
  • A vehicle collided with a motorcycle at Wedington Drive and Hamestring Road. The driver and passenger of the motorcycle suffered moderate injuries.
  • An unknown vehicle collided with a large trailer at 548 W. Dickson St. The vehicle left the scene. Minor damage to the trailer was reported, but no injuries were reported.

(There were no motorcycles reported stolen on Friday.)


Saturday, Sept. 23 activity

Citations:

  • Three local residents were cited for parking in a handicap space.
  • Three local residents were cited for engine revving.
  • One local resident was cited for failure to yield.
  • Three local residents were cited for careless driving.
  • Eight non-local visitors were cited for prohibited parking.
  • Four non-local visitors were cited for parking in a handicap space.
  • Five non-local visitors were cited for engine revving.

Arrests:

  • One local resident was arrested for public intoxication and disorderly conduct.
  • One local resident was arrested for disorderly conduct.
  • One local resident was arrested for second degree battery.
  • One non-local visitor was arrested for public intoxication.
  • Three non-local visitors were arrested for public intoxication and disorderly conduct.
  • One non-local visitor was arrested for DWI.

Wrecks:

  • Four vehicles collided with motorcycles inside the city limits. No significant injuries were reported.
