A Louisiana-based restaurant/sports bar chain is looking to expand to Northwest Arkansas next year.

Walk-On’s Bistreaux & Bar, a restaurant that operates 15 locations in Louisiana and Texas, has inked with a franchisee who plans to open two locations in the region.

The restaurant concept was created by former LSU walk on basketball players Brandon Landry and Jack Warner. New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees has since bought in as an owner of the restaurant chain.

The menu focuses on sports bar-type fair with a Cajun flavor. According to franchisee Chris McJunkins, who is working to open the local stores, the most popular dishes at Walk-Ons include their Boom Boom Shrimp, Catfish Atchafalaya, Ribeye Poboy, and Zydeco Salad.

McJunkins said he hasn’t decided where he will open in NWA just yet, but said the growth in the region is what attracted him to the area.

“Northwest Arkansas has seen significant growth over the past several years and bringing our concept to the area was an opportunity we couldn’t pass up,” McJunkins said. “Coupled with being a university town, we are eagerly anticipating sharing our passion for food served in a game day atmosphere with the local community.”

The chain appears to be growing rapidly. In addition to the existing locations, additional stores are in the works in Alabama, Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee, and Texas.

If all goes well with the site selection process, McJunkins said he hopes to have his first location open sometime before the end of 2018.
