Free tree giveaway set for Saturday, Oct. 28 in Fayetteville

It’s time for the annual tree giveaway in downtown Fayetteville.

Free trees and shrubs will be available for Fayetteville residents on Saturday, Oct. 28 at the 19th annual Celebration of Trees event on the Arvest Bank plaza across from the north side of the downtown square.

The event begins at 7 a.m. when staff from the Fayetteville Parks and Recreation Department and members of the Urban Forestry Advisory Board will hand out up to two plants per resident.

Species available this year include (click each for info) American Hornbeam, Arrowood Viburnum, Carolina Buckthorn, Eagleston Holly, Paw Paw, Pecan, Persimmon, Redbud, Rusty Viburnum, White Oak and Willow Oak.

Trees and shrubs are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Each person should be prepared to show proof of Fayetteville residency, such as a recent utility bill or some other form of ID with a current address.
