Har Mar Superstar coming to George’s Oct. 23

Possibly one of the most fun shows of the year is coming up on Monday, Oct. 23.

That’s the evening that Har Mar Superstar will return to town for the first time in a couple years for a show at George’s Majestic Lounge.

For those who aren’t familiar, Har Mar Superstar began around 2000 as a kind of alter ego for Sean Tillmann, a mild-mannered Minnesota native and frontman for the indie band Sean Na Na, who was looking for a way to play R&B music.

The resulting sound – and the flamboyant, half-naked persona he created to perform it – blew up pretty quickly after that.

Since then, Har Mar Superstar has released five full-length albums, and written songs for pop stars like The Cheetah Girls and Jennifer Lopez. When his song Tall Boy was rejected by Brittany Spears, he recorded it for himself and released it on his 2009 album, Dark Touches, propelling his celebrity even further.

He’s been in a handful of movies and TV shows. A few years ago, his hometown of Minneapolis declared Sept. 20, 2013 Har Mar Superstar Day.

He just released a new EP back in August, titled Personal Boy.

As folks who saw him perform at Clunk Music Hall in the early 2000s can attest, however, Har Mar Superstar is a show you have to see live to truly appreciate.

Admission will be $10 in advance, or $12 at the door the day of the show.

We suggest bringing your dancing shoes.
