Downtown residents will soon have one fewer option for buying their weekly groceries.
A manager a CV’s Family Foods (formerly Saver’s Club, formerly Marvin’s IGA) confirmed today plans to close their Fayetteville location, located at 380 N College Ave.
The store has been through several changes in recent years. It had been known as IGA, and then Marvin’s IGA for years. In 2015, the location closed for remodeling, and re-opened as Saver’s Club. Roughly a year later, the store changed its name again to CV’s Family Foods.
The company also closed their south Fayetteville location about a year ago. An increase in competition provided by the recently opened Walmart Neighborhood Market may have contributed to both closures.
The store will begin marking down items as early as next week, and the store will close once the inventory has been suitably reduced, likely in the next 5-6 weeks.
