Spring is springing all over the place in Fayetteville, and that means it’s almost time for Walton Arts Center’s annual Artosphere Festival.
This year’s event celebrating art and music inspired by nature is set for June 10-23 in locations all over Fayetteville and around the region.
Each year, Artosphere features signature events like the popular Trail Mix concerts along the trail system, performances by the Artosphere Festival Orchestra, ‘pop-up’ concerts by classically trained musicians in pubs and bars around town, gallery events, and more.
This year, artist Stacy Levy will return to town to create a large-scale “Topo Map” art installation on School Avenue. The map will illustrate the natural steepness and micro gradients of the School Avenue terrain, drawing the path of rain flowing down the slope and highlighting the areas where the storm water gathers. Levy was last in town to create an installation called ‘Spiral Wetland’ on Lake Fayetteville in 2013.
New this year, a film series will make its debut as part of the festival, featuring films for adults, kids and families that “explore the wonder, magic and reality of the world’s greatest waterways, the creatures that dwell there, and the generations of people who call the water home.”
