A celebration of movement, music, and mindful living is coming to Fayetteville this spring.

Fayetteville Yoga Festival, a three-day series of events featuring yoga classes, group hikes, bike rides, presentations, discussions, and more, is set for May 4-6 at the Mount Sequoyah Center.

For the dedicated morning person, the first session is a “Sunrise Yoga Adventure” at 6:15 a.m. on Friday. For the rest of us, the festival schedule begins at noon on Friday and continues through 2 p.m. on Sunday. Classes range from beginner-friendly options like “Kid’s Yoga” and “Intro to Yoga,” to classes for nearly any experience level such as “Accessible Ashtanga” and some familiar vinyasa flows, to “The 4 Secrets of Handstand” and “The Big 3! Arm Balances” for the adventurous yogi.

With over 80 classes and activities during the course of the weekend, some unique class offerings include hikes followed by meditation in the nature tepee, bike tours of public art along the Razorback Greenway, “Glow Yoga” with glow sticks at sunset, “Thai Partner Massage,” and “Rock N Roll Yoga” set to familiar musical artists.

Focused wellness sessions are also a significant part of the schedule, with themes such as meditation, leadership development, and myofascial release.

Over 36 yoga instructors from Fayetteville and the surrounding regions will lead classes. The instructor lineup also includes nationally-recognized teachers Gina Caputo of Boulder, CO; Matt Giordano of Goshen, CT; Diana Vitantonio of Sacramento, CA; and Arielle Shipe of Aspen, CO.

The festival creators, Power Yoga Retreats, organize several annual retreats and festivals in Arkansas, including Yoga on the Buffalo River in June, and Yoga on the Mountain at Mt. Magazine State Park in November.

The venue, Mount Sequoyah Retreat and Conference Center, was founded in 1922 as the Western Methodist Assembly, a summer retreat facility for the Methodist Episcopal Church. Perched on 32 acres atop Mt. Sequoyah (the official address is 150 N. Skyline Drive), the center has over 40 historic buildings, which are available for conferences, weddings, meetings, and events.

Fayetteville Yoga Fest day passes, weekend passes, and a 30-hour yoga teacher training are available, with on-site lodging and meal options as well. Tickets and detailed schedule information are available at fayettevilleyogafest.com.
