Who’s ready for some picnic-ing and free music-ing at Gulley Park? It’s almost time for the Gulley Park Concert Series.

The 22nd annual Gulley Park Summer Concert Series kicks off on Thursday, May 31 with local second line band, Crescent City Combo.

After that, Joplin folk/rock/bluegrass/etc. outfit, Ben Miller Band will perform on June 14, Chicago rock band The Empty Pockets will play on June 28, St. Louis roots rockers The Mighty Pines will play July 12, local hero Barrett Baber will perform on July 26, and Fayetteville-based bluegrassy band Fett’s Folly will close out the season on Aug. 9.

For those unfamiliar, the concert series is organized by the city’s Parks & Recreation Department, and features free outdoor live music with plenty of room for picnic blankets and lawn chairs throughout the fields surrounding the gazebo stage at Gulley Park in east Fayetteville.

The music starts at 7 p.m., and the concerts are free and open to the public. Coolers are welcome for those who’d like to pack snacks or dinner, but food vendors are also usually set up around the park.
