Fayetteville honored as Tree City USA

Fayetteville was named a 2017 Tree City USA by the Arbor Day Foundation earlier this year in honor of its commitment to effective urban forest management.

To celebrate, a bur oak tree donated by the Tree City USA program and with the cooperation of the Arkansas Forestry Commission was planted at Wilson Park.

The planting also recognized the Parks and Recreation Department’s regenerative tree planting initiative in Wilson Park. Four trees will be planted to replace mature trees and help reforest the stream banks.

Additionally, seven trees will be planted around the downtown square and another five trees will be planted in David Lashley Park.
