Topgolf to open NWA location

Remember a couple years ago when we told y’all that Topgolf was looking for a spot to open a location in NWA?

It looks like they found it.

The Texas-based driving range and sports bar chain last week announced plans to open for their first Arkansas location in Rogers.

According to a press release posted to their website Friday, the facility would be located on 11 acres adjacent to the Walmart AMP on South JB Hunt Drive, near the Interstate 49 interchange at Pauline Whitaker Parkway. The chain would lease the land from Hunt Ventures, the development company owned by business person and JB Hunt cofounder, Johnelle Hunt.

For those who aren’t familiar, Top Golf is sort of a hybrid between an advanced driving range and a restaurant/sports bar/night club. Players hit golf balls containing microchips that track their shot’s accuracy and distance. Points are awarded for hitting targets in the outfield. The venues also serve food and alcohol, host occasional live music events, and are set up with plenty of TVs for watching sports. There are currently 41 locations open around the country, with several more in the works.

Most locations feature three levels, with more than 100 hitting bays that can host up to six players at a time.

According to the press release, the Rogers facility will employ around 300 people in full and part time positions. The selected location will still need approvals from the city of Rogers before the project can move forward.

No specific timeline for the project has been announced.
